How My YouTube Channel Began
I launched my YouTube channel to entertain my family and friends back in Europe. It also kept them up to date on my new life in North America. I never imagined it would grow into a wide language-learning community.
Even now, I mainly create content about French or Japanese for people I know personally. They asked me for this kind of resource. The channel also lets me stay in touch with acquaintances I met in Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico while I keep studying to improve my Spanish.
From Accent Imitations to a Growing Community
My channel started to grow unexpectedly when I posted videos of myself imitating accents from all around the world. Then I collaborated with Mark on the web series FRAJALICAN. That project boosted his channel’s popularity, and his follower count rose steadily.
I’m extremely grateful for the supportive feedback I received. It really kept my own channel going.
Fan Art and Friendships Made Through Social Media
Beyond the comments, personal gestures moved me. My friend Kayo drew a portrait of me. Talented artists like Noemi and Ingrid created fan art inspired by my videos. We connected through video calls, and I even met Noemi in person during a trip to France.
That’s when I truly realized the potential of social media. It connects people who share the same interests. It reminds me of the early days of computers and social networking sites like MySpace and MSN Messenger, which brought people together in a different era. Keeping this in mind drives my ongoing commitment to creating material that resonates with my audience.
